About Samantha (Samm) Smith
Samm is a PhD student in the Burke lab. She earned her BA in neuroscience from Rice University in 2020. She is primarily interested in understanding the systems-level (neuronal circuit) interactions in the brain that lead to cognition, behavior, and subsequently, cognitive decline in age. Currently, she is using three-dimensional immunolabeling and light sheet microscopy to view the brain and hopes to become an expert in recording and analyzing electrical signals from the brain during her time in graduate school. Samm’s hobbies include writing poetry, playing softball, and contemplating existence.
