About Tara Cooper

Tara Cooper is a current PhD candidate in the Burke lab. She earned her B.S. in Neuroscience from Washington & Lee University in 2019, where she also majored in Japanese Language & Literature. Her primary research interest is elucidating functional connectivity between the hippocampus and cortex during associative memory tasks and how this may change with age, currently through using a DREADDs approach. Additionally, Tara is investigating how metabolic flexibility induced by a cyclic ketogenic diet may mitigate age-related cognitive dysfunction. Outside of lab, she spends her free time playing video games, D&D, and reading sci-fi or Japanese poetry.
